Paint by number and Kids Bible lessons ... two different topics, right? Wrong! The answer is - kids decorating has EVERYTHING to do with creating a kid friendly environment to PRESENT your kids Bible lessons.

It's about atmosphere

I grew up in a church that had block walled classrooms painted a lovely eye popping gray! We sat around tables and were motionless as the teacher taught us with very few visuals or animation.

Yeah it was a drag. You spend all week in school and then head to the dungeon to learn about God.

Before someone clicks away, let me clarify. Yes the Holy Spirit and God's Word can and do work in any environment. God doesn't need painted walls and decorations.

But - God tells us to be wise and be good stewards, invest what we have available to us. Why not invest some time, energy and money into your kids ministry? I really can't think of a better investment than kids honestly. The return is off the charts and we bless God's heart!

God isn't dull or "one color/dimensional". He is alive..His Word is alive, powerful and sharp! What a combo of His Word and Spirit delivered in a kids theme room atmosphere.

Murals say kids are important

When kids walk in the room surrounded by vivid colors and images it delivers a powerful message to them. It screams - we care about you...we created a kids space just for you!

When kids are in a fun, cool atmosphere...their hearts open up and their guard drops.

It's something you can do!

Go ahead...make an impact! I personally have done (with others helping of course!) 8 theme rooms at different churches. I currently am at work on a Jungle theme bedroom for my 5 year old using The Jungle kit.

I don't push products I know nothing about. I use these paint by number kits and they work! I am not an artist by any stretch...but the results are amazing.

This is an image from the Jungle Kit I am doing in my son's bedroom. It isn't finished, it needs outlined and some more leaves and paint in areas BUT this gives you an idea of what you can do. The options and creative ideas you can add are endless.

Use kids murals to recruit!

Where would you rather teach a kids Bible lesson? In a sterile bare walled room painted gray or white or a room that's been transformed with a paint by number kit?

Yeah...people want to be involved in a ministry that's taken the time to create a WOW atmosphere for kids!
