Repent...Repent!
I tried this form of drama during a series we did on water baptism. The kids loved it!
Our series was titled, "Take the Plunge". The Holy Spirit gave me a really creative idea. Use our Youth Pastor to play John the Baptist.
This accomplished two cool things:
- Introduced the kids to him - they'd eventually be in his ministry.
- Gave the kids a fresh face to see in class
We predetermined a time for him to interrupt our class. The kids had no clue.
I started my childrens Bible story. From the hallway, louder and louder we hear "repent, repent!". John throws open the door with a boom-box playing "Jesus Freak".
The look on the kid's faces was priceless.
John had a wig, costume and was barefoot. He ate gummy worms, bugs and Honeycomb cereal as he talked.
