Bible Memory Verses and T-shirts
The Perfect Fit!
T-shirts
T-shirts are a nice FIT for Bible memory verses. Kids get a kick out of wearing the shirts. You can play virtually the same Bible memorization games as you did with cards and boards. But, it seems like a totally different game.
Isn't it expensive?
Yeah if you buy the shirts new. Stock up on T-shirts at thrift stores and garage sales.
Get plenty of large or X-large shirts. Kids need plenty of room to slide the T-shirt easily over their regular clothes.
Note: always wash the shirts before using in class!
Line 'em up!
Write one word of the Bible verse on each T-shirt. Pick some volunteers from your kids and have them put the word shirt over their own shirt.
Kids line up in the correct order of the verse.
Go over the verse a few times with the whole class. Turn a few kids around so their word is not visible. Have the class say the Bible verse for children filling in the missing words.
Turn one or two more kids around in different spots of the verse and repeat until finally no words are visible.
MIX 'em UP
Mix up the T-shirts in a pile on the floor. Select the same number of kids as word T-shirts of the Bible scripture. Kids grab a T-shirt, put it on over their clothes, then work with the other kids to place themselves in the correct order. Just do it for whole class fun or I prefer to do it in teams. Time it to see who can do it fastest! It's great fun to watch the "controlled chaos" as they try to read each other's shirts including their own and move each other around.
For even crazier fun Write the word on the back of the shirts - or some front, some back.
